Explore East Sussex: Love Campers’ guide to campervan-friendly campsites

At Love Campers, we know that the journey is just as important as the destination. We often recommend our customers combine a trip to our workshop with a short stay in a campsite in Brighton, Lewes or the countryside around East Sussex. You could do this during a visit to our workshop or even to test out your new Love Campers conversion.

With our bespoke designs, you can bring a luxury camping experience wherever you go. That’s why we’ve put together a guide to some of the best campervan-friendly campsites in this beautiful part of England.

Unwind by the seaside

Brighton Caravan and Motorhome Club

The Brighton Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite is nestled between the city and the South Downs, meaning you can get the best of both worlds. You can explore breath-taking walks across the Downs one day, and get wrapped up in the bustle of the city centre the next. Meander down the iconic Brighton Pier, wander through the charming lanes filled with independent shops and cafes, or soak up the sun on the pebble beach. Then, after a day of exploration, return to your campsite for a peaceful evening under the starlit sky.

Embrace the countryside

Fontmills Farm

Nestled within 140 acres of East Sussex countryside near the village of Hellingly, Fontmills Farm Campsite offers a haven of peace and tranquillity. This campsite is the ideal base for walkers and cyclists, with easy access to picturesque trails along the Cuckoo Trail. Explore nearby charming villages, visit some of Sussex’s most iconic pubs, and if the beach beckons, a short drive takes you to the seaside town of Eastbourne.

Chalky Downs

Perched on the South Downs, Chalky Downs Campsite boasts panoramic views, perfect for nature enthusiasts. If the weather is good, you’ll be treated to a gorgeous sunrise and sunset to enjoy from the comfort of your ‘doorstep’. This relaxed campsite offers a welcome escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, and its proximity to Brighton city centre provides the perfect opportunity for a day trip to explore the vibrant shops, museums, and historical landmarks.

Our micro campers are ideal for short camping trips like this as they combine all the facilities you can get in a larger van, while allowing you to get back to basics and make the most of nature. Smaller campervans mean more opportunities to get outside and enjoy your surroundings.

Tomkins Farm

Calling all families! Tomkins Farm, near the village of Chailey, is a haven for families seeking a fun-filled camping adventure. Spacious pitches with fire pits provide the perfect setting for outdoor evenings toasting marshmallows and sharing stories under the stars. But the true magic lies in the (sometimes surprising!) animal residents. Meet friendly sheep, alpacas, llamas, camels, and create lasting family memories. Tomkins Farm is also within easy reach of Barcombe Mills where you can go wild swimming and enjoy water sports such as kayaking and stand up paddleboarding.

Relax with eco adventures

Breathe in the fresh air, participate in on-site yoga sessions, or marvel at the stars during a stargazing evening. Furthermore, Earth Camp hosts educational events like gong baths and relaxing yoga retreats, allowing you to truly reconnect with yourself and the natural world.

WoWo

Perfect for families with young adventurers, WoWo Campsite near Uckfield is a hub of activity. WoWo offers a range of workshops and activities for kids, from bushcraft skills and circus tricks to potion-making and archery. Live music, delicious food vans, and crackling campfires create an unforgettable atmosphere for the whole family. It’s also home to Wild Spa, a magical forest glade spa and retreat space. Here you’ll find saunas, steam rooms and a plunge pool for the ultimate way to unwind in nature.
